Homemade Spicy Ranch

I love spicy ranch dressing.  To cut down on calories, I figured how to make my own.  The first thing I do is make the ranch with a Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing packet.  You add one cup of milk with one cup of mayonnaise to the contents of the package.  I make it with Kraft Olive Oil Mayonnaise and Skim Milk which brings the calorie count for one tablespoon to just under 30 calories.  When I go to make up my salad, I mix one tablespoon of ranch with two tablespoons of FRESH salsa.  There is only 10 calories for every 2 TBS of this, (at least the kind I use).  This gives me three tablespoons of delicious dressing for 40 calories.  Not to bad....

Fresh Salsa is something that I add to just about every meal because it adds a ton of flavor with minimal calories.

What I Usually Eat For Lunch

Here is a very common thing that I eat for lunch and it is only about 350 calories AND it fills me up. Just a little note about the bread I use. I always buy either Sara Lee or Orowheat 100% Whole Wheat Bread (the small sandwich type) depending on which in on sale. The Orowheat has less calories and the one used for this lunch (120 cal. for two pieces). The Sara Lee has 150 cal. for two pieces.

TURKEY SANDWICH:
2 oz. of deli turkey rotisserie style (from the deli): 110 cal
Two pieces of Orowheat 100% Whole Wheat bread (small, sandwich style): 120 cal.
1 tbs. Kraft Olive Oil Mayonnaise: 45 cal.
Small squirt of mustard: didn't count, calories negligible.
Lettuce: negligible, didn't count.

SALAD:
2 c. lettuce: 20 cal.
3 tbs. homemade spicy ranch (I will post the recipe shortly): 40 cal.

Total Calories: 335 calories. Eat this with a glass of water and you will be surprised at how full you feel!

End of Week Three Statistics and an Explanation

I bought a new scale this week, it is a digital scale and much easier to read.  HOWEVER, there does seem to be a two pound difference between the two.  On my old scale I was at 152 today, showing a 2 lb. loss from last week.  On my new scale, I am weighing in at 153.8 which shows only a 0.2 lb difference from last week.  Because I DID lose those pounds this week and I do not want to pretend like I didn't just because my scales differ, I am going to edit my previous posts up two pounds to cover the discrepancy.  Does that make sense?

End of Week Three Statistics
Start Date: March 5, 2011
Weight: 153.8 lbs
Weight Lost this week: 2.2 lbs
Total Weight Loss: 7.2 lbs
Height: 5' 7"

Goal Weight: 130 lbs (although I think I would be happy to be 140 lbs again)

WeightLus Meeting

There will be a WeightLus meeting every week for several weeks.  I will be posting them on my blog.  They are a great way to learn about the program, how the product was developed, why it is different from other weight loss supplements and for business opportunities within the company.  I invite anyone who is interested to attend one, and if you can't make this one, there will be another one soon so don't worry.

Appetite vs. Hunger

Most people use the words appetite and hunger interchangeably.  They do however have different definitions.  Hunger is caused by having an empty stomach.  It is the actual feeling we get when our bodies need food.  Appetite is psychological.  It is the desire to eat, whether that be from stress, anxiety, boredom, or just because the food looks or smells so darn good.

WeightLus decreases appetite, not hunger.  Make sure when taking WeightLus (or any other time you are trying to eat less) that you eat when you know your body needs it, otherwise your body will go into "starvation mode" and will store fat.

I have been on WeightLus for one week.  I have to note that it took several days before I noticed a dramatic difference in my appetite and stress motivated hunger, by Tuesday or Wednesday though, I noticed a huge difference.  For those of you who are just starting, make sure you give it enough time to build up in your system.

Starting Statistics

Here I am at the start of my own WeightLus journey. These pictures were actually taken last Sunday, and I am just getting around to posting them - it has been a busy week. A busy and stressful week - I had 3 exams and I think for the first time in my school career, I didn't overeat because of stress (something that is very common for me).

I will be posting my stats every week, along with any other information I find pertinent. Pictures of my own changes will come every month. I hope to show each of you that not only am I promoting a product, but I am promoting a product that works.

WELCOME

Welcome everyone. Prevensic is a company that promotes healthy living. One very serious part of healthy living is a healthy weight. Being overweight or obese increases your chances of many very serious and even fatal diseases. Who do you have in your life to live for... to be healthy for? Your husband, your children, your significant other, your parents, siblings, friends, how about yourself?

I have been a full time student for the last two years. One of the most shocking things I learned was in my Nutrition class in which we were told that the rising generation is the first EVER to have a lower life expectancy than their parents, this is because of the rise in obesity. This hit me hard, but still I was unable to fully change my own eating habits. I am a stress eater and going to school full time while raising four children has increased my stress level quite a bit. I have gained almost 20 lbs since I started school. I have people in my life to live for, including myself.

When I saw the presentation on WeightLus, I was immediately intrigued. Having taken many classes on biology, the human body, and nutrition, I have realized how fragile life can be. We only get one body and I knew that I wanted to change my lifestyle to a healthy one to protect my body for a lifetime. I also knew that all of these "get skinny quick with minimal effort" supplements were almost as unhealthy as just eating poorly, so I stayed away from them. WeightLus is not one of those supplements. In fact, if you eat on their diet plan WITHOUT WeightLus, you will lose just as much weight as if you were on it. WeightLus is merely a tool to help with the REASONS we overeat, it does not compensate for overeating or eating poorly. I encourage you to give it a try, but if you chose not to, and still would like to post your own HEALTHY weightloss results, and use this blog as I have intended it (a support to those wanting to make the change to a healthy lifestyle), then please feel free to comment and share.
